Health Benefits

This South African herb is enjoyed the world over & appreciated as
a caffeine free alternative to black tea or coffee. Rich in minerals & Vitamine C.

How We Like It

Rooibos is a very versatile herb that goes with anything. We like to add slices of fresh ginger &/or fresh mint, a slice of lemon, a slice of orange, a squeeze of honey... Sometimes we brew it all together!

We pour just boiled water directly over the rooibos & let it brew for around 5 minutes. Rooibos doesn't go bitter like a green & black tea would if over brewed, so you can let it brew for as long as you like!

The Story Behind Rooibos

Rooibos translates to 'red bush'. Rooibos tea history nearly ended with the dwindling of the Khoisan tribes, but thankfully a Swedish botanist named Carl Thunberg rediscovered the leaves in 1772 and it was revived. Rooibos is still rare is that the plant from which it is harvested is grown only in a specific region in South Africa.

The South African Department of Trade and Industry issued final rules on 6 September 2013 that protects and restricts the use of the names "rooibos", "red bush", "rooibostee", "rooibos tea", "rooitee" and "rooibosch" in that country, so that the name cannot be used for things not derived from the Aspalathus linearis plant.
