What makes Green Tea & Lemon Verbena a specialty?

Satemwa Tea Estate is awarded with Fair-Trade, UTZ, Rainforest & Ethical Tea Partnership certifications. This tea is just one of their specialties that are organically grown. The herbs that they use to create their own blends are also grown on their tea estate.

Health Benefits

Green tea is a natural source of anti-oxidants to support the body's immune system & is well known for its anti-ageing properties. The caffeine content is medium & will give a mild boost to your day. Naturally contains tannins.

How We Like It

With all green teas, water temperature & timing is crucial. We add a spoonful of cold water to the cup, then pour the freshly boiled water into the cup before placing the tea leaves in. When the timer goes off, we take the leaves out but we don't throw the tea leaves out straight away! We put them to the side ready to enjoy up to 3 more cups made later in the day.

The Story Behind The Name
Aloysia Citrodora - The Lemon Verbena Herb is an aromatic shrub native to western South America. It is a popular herb that can be enjoyed on its own & is commonly blended with other tea types or herbs to add a refreshing, lemony taste to a cup of tea. After the leaves have been dried, its fragrance remains for years. This plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit which is based on assessment of the plants, performance under UK growing conditions.

Satemwa Tea Estate is based in Malawi. Malawi was the first East African country to grow tea commercially when British planters started to cultivate the plant in the 1880's. Malawi's tea grows on the lowlands of Mulanje & Thyolo in the Shire Highlands. Satemwa Estate now produces quality white teas, green & aged teas in the style of Chinese puerhs.
